Book a Reception Hall
A reception hall, or banquet hall, makes for a fine location for parties, weddings and other social events. Each reception hall has unique advantages, such as location and size, and might be a good fit for different events. One challenge that planners run into is the fact that some reception halls are not handicapped-accessible. Some also have strict policies about catering or hiring their kitchen and how you can decorate the reception hall.
Instructions
1. Make a list of names and phone numbers of all nearby banquet halls. Your phone book should have a full section on banquet halls or reception halls. After phone calls to them, you can narrow this list based on location, size and type. Some reception halls might have images and information available online as well.
2. Schedule an appointment to visit each potential reception hall. After the visits, you should have a selection of three or four halls that you feel very comfortable with. Discuss the availability of each reception hall and examine the kitchen and bathrooms to make sure they're appropriately sized and clean. Find out whether you will be required to order from the reception hall's kitchen and what the menu is like.
3. Fix an appointment on the banquet hall's schedule. Make sure the date fits within your schedule. For many banquet halls, you should be able to keep the date for two or three weeks before you are required to put down a deposit.
4. Make the final decision to book the reception hall. Put down the deposit, which should be a significant portion of the rental cost. If the space is going to limit the number of people you invite, you should begin to cut down your invitation list immediately.
