Celebrate An Elementary Or Middle School Graduation With These Party Ideas

Celebrations can encourage your children to be sucessful in the future.

Keeping track of your child's accomplishments will be very helpful when the bigger High School celebration takes place. It's also a great way to encourage your child and let them know how important their education really is. Graduations are celebrated in different schools usually according to the parents willingness to participate. Most often the celebration is when the children are advancing to a new school building.

Instructions

1. If you want to make a special event of your child's graduation then consider planning a party with just your family. Most of the other school children, probably will not be having a party. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't, just be aware of hurt feelings. Think of how your child would feel if he or she was not invited to a classmates party. If you want to celebrated with all of the classmates, that would be great. Ask the teachers if a reception is being planned.

This is a particularly sensitive age and teachers are constantly battling raging emotions. Discuss the party with your child and don't try to surprise him with an event that might cause trouble or embarrassment with his friends at school.

2. If the party is a go, this is a good time to plan something around an event. Take the children swimming or bowling or provide an activity that will keep them moving. A hot dog roast where they have to cook their own food gives them something to be busy with while still being together.

3. The refreshments are secondary at this age. A cake and ice cream, or pizza or barbecue is great. These children want to be alone and together, but don't always know what to do with each other. If the party is a family affair with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, it will be much more manageable. Yard games, croquet or horse shoes will even be a welcome activity to participate in.

4. A smaller scaled celebration is just as appropriate. A special meal or dinner out, even just going for ice cream recognizes that this is an important event. Keep track of special awards and their graduation song or certificates. These will be fun at bigger celebrations that a just a few years down the road.
