Instructions
Make a Halloween Party Flyer
1. Find an image. You can use your own picture for a Halloween party flyer. Look through old photographs of past holidays; find a cute one of your kids dressed up in costumes. If you are going to display your Halloween flyers in a public area, avoid using scary pictures or photos that are too personal.
Look through the free clipart in Microsoft Word. Go to the "Insert" menu, then press "Picture" and "Clipart." Search through the clips using words like Halloween, scary, or pumpkin. Double click on the picture you want to use on your Halloween flyer to add it to the page.
2. Adjust the picture. Your flyer will probably get more attention if the picture can be seen from far away. Adjust the size of your clip art by dragging the photo. To make a Halloween party flyer, you'll need to have space for text. You can type at the top or bottom of your flyer. If you want to write over the picture, you can accomplish this with the photo menu. Select the picture so the photo menu pops up. Click on the "Text Wrapping" icon. Choose "Behind the Photo." This allows you to write over the picture. Adjust the brightness and contrast levels so you can read the text easily.
3. Set the specifics of your Halloween party. Your flyer should tell guests when to arrive at the festivities. Set a general range of when the party will start and stop. Many guests will be attending several events on Halloween so it's not realistic to expect everyone to be there at a certain hour. Let your guests know whether it's a costume party and if children are invited. Leave your phone number where your friends can RSVP or ask questions.
4. Write in a bold font. Halloween is the time to be daring. Create your Halloween flyer with large, strong and black text. This will add a ghoulish feeling to your words and will make the flyer easier to read. Press the "B" button to create bold text in Microsoft Word.
5. Print your flyer. Use a festive orange or yellow paper. This way you can create a Halloween flyer even if you don't want to use an image. The black text will pop against the bright colors. This will use less ink than printing out flyers with photos on them.
