Make A Hawaiian Comb

Flower combs come in many shapes and sizes.

Hawaiian combs are known for their beautiful flowers attached to ornate combs which women wear in their hair. These combs can be purchased in Hawaii, and also can be made by the wearer at home with a few supplies. They are perfect hair accessories for a party, wedding, graduation or other social occasion where the wearer would like to adorn her tresses with a fragrant and colorful flower. They may also be made with artificial or foam flowers in place of fresh flowers. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Decide between fresh flowers or foam flowers for your comb. If you using foam or artifical flowers, you will want to clip the flower from the stem.

2. Apply glue to the tortoise-shell comb at the top. You may use a glue gun or purchase clear glue to use on the comb. The comb may be any color you like. Black or brown is usually best as it blends into all hair types. If you have lighter hair, you may wish to use a cream-colored comb.

3. Take foam flower and attach it to the comb with glue. If using fresh flowers, very lightly press on the fresh flower to the glue on the comb. Hold for 30 seconds and make sure to lay flat on a table. Make sure the glue does not drip down the comb; clean up immediately if it does.

4. Allow to dry for at least 12 hours. When dry you may wear in your hair. These combs are decorative and can be worn for many different occasions.
