Celebrate High School Graduation With These Party Ideas

High School Graduation Parties mark this great achievment in our country.

In the United States, High School Graduation is a major feat. It is a time of celebration and most family's host a special day for the grad. Different areas of the country seem to have their own traditions, but you can develop what works best in your family and let your child know how proud you are.

Instructions

1. In the Midwest many families host what is called an Open House. The participants are invited to congratulate the High School Graduate between specifically set hours at a home or hall or even a park. People arrive at some point during the hours set and often have other "Open Houses" to attend in the same day.

2. Food at an Open House varies greatly. Some opt for an entire meal. A hog roast, where a pig is actually roasted (usually someone is hired to come and do this) as the main event. Others have sandwiches bars or taco bars, casseroles; anything that can be kept on a buffet line. Lots of fruit and vegetable salads, chips and dips are great fillers because you are never entirely sure how many people will show up. Similar to a wedding a graduation cake is an appropriate end to the meal and custom made cake decorating is a big deal.

3. A dessert bar is also popular and takes less management. Once the desserts are out, they don't have to be kept warm or refilled as much as a meal. It is easier to enjoy your guest. Many people take turns helping each other since high school friends are all graduating together. You keep the food out and cleaned up at one party and they come and help at yours. If you are opting for a dessert bar a chocolate fountain (which is easily accessible anymore) with lots of fruit and cookies and marshmallows is quite a festive touch. Fruit pizza, cookies, cheesecakes, pudding deserts and simple sliced melons round out the table. Healthy items are welcomed by many who are "making the rounds" of several open houses in a day.

4. Planning a Graduation Open House can be as much work as a wedding reception, without the nervous bride. Get as much done ahead of time as possible so you can enjoy your friends and family. Let them help you. Now is the time to get out all the awards, pictures and graduation songs from years passed.

5. Many of these pictures can be put on a DVD with appropriate graduation songs in the background. This can be playing on the TV while the guest mingle. Hopefully you will have wonderful weather to allow the overflow to be outdoors.
