Celebrating a birthday with loved ones makes it special.
The federal government considers you a year older on the day before your birthday, according to the Social Security Administration. Following this lead, you might decide to celebrate your birthday before your actual birthday to get a head start or prolong the festivities. It's your celebration, so choose your day. Keep the party safe and sane and you'll live to celebrate many more big days. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Share your celebration plans with whomever you wish to spend time with on your special day. Assume that friends and family who know your actual birth date may set aside time to spend with you on this date. If you plan to celebrate early, your loved ones may need extra notice to set aside time on a different date. Avoid confusion by informing casual acquaintances of your actual birth date and let them know that you are celebrating early.
2. Make plans for a special meal or special excursion to mark your birthday. Realize, however, that many birthday specials that people enjoy at restaurants --- such as a complimentary cocktail or dessert --- may not be possible to get when you celebrate early. Because you usually have to prove your birth date with your driver's license or other ID, these locales may not provide a birthday special on a date that is not your actual birthday.
3. Enjoy the celebration before your actual birthday, reveling in the special time as you mark the passage of another year. Spend time doing activities you like, with people you love. Slow down and allow the day to pass deliberately, making memories of a special day that you can recall fondly.
4. Mark your progression to another year older on your actual birthday, when the calendar date confirms the anniversary of your birth.
