Sweet sixteen is a milestone for every teenager--and you can make it even more memorable by creating artistic invitations for this momentous birthday party. With some imagination, a little time and a few simple materials, you can make handmade invitations to send family and friends. Include the birthday person's favorite colors and interests. Guests will look forward to being part of a birthday that deserves special recognition.
Instructions
1. Create the wording for a 16th birthday party invitation on the computer with a word processing program, such as Microsoft Word, in landscape layout. Make it fit within a five-inch by seven-inch space. Choose a lettering font style that fits the teen's style--funky or modern fonts like Curlz MT, Gigi or Freestyle Script work well. An example of the invitation could be:
You are invited to (birthday's person's name) 16th birthday celebration
on (date)
at (location & address)
(time)
Please RSVP to (phone number)
2. Align the invitation to fit into the right half of the seven-inch-high by 10-inch-wide space on a sheet of card stock. Print out as many invitations as may be needed for the number of guests invited. Ink color can be black or colored, such as bright pink for a girl or a shade of blue for a boy.
3. Cut the card stock on a paper cutter into seven inches by 10 inches. Fold the invitation in half and make a crease along the fold. The wording for the invitation should be neatly centered inside the card. Proceed the same way with all the invitations printed.
4. Cut four-inch by six-inch pieces of feminine- or masculine-themed decorative paper (whichever is appropriate for the gender of the birthday person) and attach them to the front of the card. Glue the chip board numbers "1" and "6" on the front of each invitation. Use white glue to add glitter on top of each of the numbers to add interest. The invitations will fit into the A-7 size envelopes.
