Streaming Music To A Website

Sharing songs on your website is free with a flash MP3 player.

When visitors come to your website, you may want to give them something to listen to while they browse around. By adding streaming audio, you can share your favorite songs, or perhaps even play some samples of your own original music.

There are several free services available that allow you to create custom MP3 music players and add them to your website. You can use Project Playlist. Playlist allows users to stream their own tracks or legally use copyrighted music from major record companies like Universal, Sony Music Entertainment and EMI.

Instructions

1. Go to Playlist.com and create a free user account.

2. Log in to your account and click "Create a Playlist" from the top menu bar. Give your playlist a title and description. You'll also have the option to make this a group playlist if you'd like to allow your friends to collaborate and add songs.

3. Use the "Search" function to locate songs you want to add to your new playlist. On the search results page, you should see your selected playlist on the right side of the page. If you have created more than one playlist, select the one you want to add songs to by using the drop-down menu on the playlist box.

4. Click on the "+" button next to the song title you want to add. You can add up to 200 songs on a single playlist.

5. If you want to use your own original music tracks, you cannot upload them directly to Playlist.com. However, you can input URLs for music stored on your own server or on a website that hosts MP3 files, such as FileDen or MyDataNest. Just enter the URL of your music file into the Playlist.com expanded search page. Then choose which playlist you wish to add that song to.

6. Embed your new playlist onto your website by clicking "Embed Code" at the bottom of the playlist. (Alternatively, you can display the playlists on your profile and simply click "Post" underneath the playlist you want to share.)

7. Choose the look of your player. You can use a custom background image or color, or use one of many skins already provided. Then select whether or not you want the music to start playing automatically when visitors land on your page.

8. Get the HTML code provided, then cut-and-paste the code into your blog, personal website or social networking profile. This embeds the playlist automatically on your site.
