Ask Walmart For Donations

The Wal-Mart Foundation accepts grant requests online.

Sponsored by corporate giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the Wal-Mart Foundation supports charities across the U.S. with donations in the form of grants. The foundation awards these grants to charities with particular focuses, such as those that support environmental sustainability. If you represent a charity that fits the Wal-Mart Foundation's criteria for receiving grants, you may apply for one. Doing so could earn money that you can use toward your charity of choice.

Instructions

1. Determine which giving program you should apply for. For example, the Wal-Mart Foundation offers grants for smaller, local nonprofits as well as organizations that serve at the state, regional or even national levels.

2. Read over the Wal-Mart Foundation's guidelines to determine your organization's eligibility. The foundation offers grants only to organizations that meet one or more of four areas of focus: education, workforce development, health and wellness or environmental sustainability. If your organization does not do work in one of these areas, it is not eligible for a grant.

3. Check the list of non-eligible programs to make sure that your program is eligible to receive donations. For example, the Wal-Mart Foundation does not extend grants to athletic teams, individuals or political advocacy groups.

4. Use the Wal-Mart Foundation website to submit an application for the appropriate giving program. Take note that these applications are not always open.
